Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/25/2014
Gorgeous 13" silver-plated Stanley Cup presented to Islanders forward Butch Goring in what would become a four-year habit of Stanley Cups headed to Long Island in the early-1980s. Goring, still wearing the helmet he'd owned since a child, did it all with the Islanders – killing penalties, checking opposing stars, and scoring big goals. And for this, he and his team that was jam-packed with stars such as Bossy, Trottier, and Potvin, rattled off four straight Stanley Cups, with this personal mini being the first of Goring's collection from his trophy cabinet. Green felt covers the bottom of the black wood base, this magnificent miniature, which comes with its original blue cotton carrying bag, shows some tarnishing and has scuffing/fine scratches throughout from shining it over the years which also worn the silver-plated finish on the trophy to various degrees. The team members and front office staff names engraved on this read as clear as a bell. Comes with an LOA from Butch Goring.
