The roots of hockey are plain to see in this lot which features a magnificent 1974 original painting of a pair of antique skates by well-known Canadian artist Douglas Allan Fales. This splendid oil-on-canvas painting comes as it was displayed by Hall of Fame defenseman Emile "Butch" Bouchard in its 20" x 24" frame with a lamp mounted on the top. The painting is signed and dated "D.A. Fales 74" by the artist in the upper right corner, and displays to about 13 1/2" x 18" as mounted in the wood outlined frame. A vintage pair of Victorian wood skates with curled steel blades accompanies this treasure from the late, great Montreal Canadiens captain's personal collection. Please take note that this lot may be subject to a silent reserve. Comes with Butch Bouchard's signed LOA.
