Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2012
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/30/2012
Attractive display recalls what is considered one of the most memorable fights in boxing history. The December 10, 1958 bout at the Montreal Forum made New Brunswicker Yvon Durelle a legend in Canada thanks to his performance against the great Archie Moore. In one of the first fights broadcast coast-to-coast on American television, Durelle stunned boxing pundits by knocking the champion down three times in the first round! Moore visited the canvas again in round five but rallied to knock out Durelle in the 11th to retain his world light heavyweight title. Lightly creased 3" by 4" ticket stub is glued to the 10" by 13" photo which is professionally matted and framed.
