Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2012
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/30/2012
A ticket stub from Jack Dempsey and Gene Tunney's first encounter, in front of a then record 120,757 fans in Philadelphia in September, 1926 leads the way here, with Dempsey autographing the back of the 2-1/2" by 3" stub in bold blue ink. The champ hadn't boxed in three years and relinquished his world title to Tunney who won a 10-round decision. Stub is missing one lower corner with the other tape-repaired on the reverse. A "Train With Me On Rippled Wheat" circular card-like 2-1/2" affair is a bread premium from the mid-1930s and looks to be crease-free, while completing is a neat ashtray from Jack Dempsey's Restaurent.
