Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2012

Baseball icon John McGraw was celebrated by New York Giants fans during a dinner in honor of their legendary manager and his 1929 team. Incredible Spalding baseball bat is a wondrous artifact presented to someone in attendance at that long-ago soiree honoring Little Napoleon just before the Giants embarked on an 84-win season good for third place in the National League. "Loyal Giants Rooters Dinner to John J. McGraw and the 1929 Giants, New York, April 14th 1929" is stamped on the barrel. The Spalding logo is stamped lower on the barrel of this 35 1/8"-long hunk of lumber as well as on the bottom of the knob. Solid, historic presentational bat with age cracks in its 83-year-old wood grain is a spectacular piece.
