Considered one of the greatest players of all time and the last National Leaguer to hit .400 in a season, Bill Terry's bold blue ballpoint "W.H (Bill) Terry" autograph appears on two different TCMA postcards from the 1970s here, with the Giants star entering the Hall of Fame in 1954 and heading to the baseball heavens in 1989. Meanwhile, former Indians and Yankees great Joe Sewell (d.1990), the toughest man to strike out in baseball history, signed six pieces in this collection, with shortstop great and long-time manager Lou Boudreau, (d.2001), autographing seven items. Sewell highlights are a letter written to him by Barry Halper which Sewell answered and actually signed twice, a 1933 (G condition) Goudey card and a real photo postcard from his Yankees days. Two similar vintage RPPCs are signed by Boudreau, along with 1970s TCMA and Cubs postcards. Please visit our website for further details. Additional Sewell items are two magazine cut-outs pasted onto autograph book pages and featuring somewhat weaker than the rest signatures, while a return address in Sewell’s hand was cut from an envelope. The Halper letter is dated “11/25/79” with Sewell writing “Dear Barry: nice to hear from you and thanks for remembering me, Sincerely Joe Sewell” at the bottom of Halper’s writing and then on the other side describes the circumstances of him getting called up to the Indians in 1920. Another “Sincerely Joe Sewell” ends it off. Boudreau’s outstanding penmanship also appears on a SPORT magazine page, with “Best Wishes” also preceding his autograph on an index card. A neatly-signed little 1941 “Double Play” trading card (No. 132) with back damage completes the appealing booty.
