Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2012
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/30/2012
Years of collecting went into this stash, with wonderful hockey images featured in a multitude of paper items. Earliest are CCM “brown border” team photos of the 1933-34 New York Americans (2), Boston Bruins and Stanley Cup champion Chicago Black Hawks in VG+ condition, VG examples of the Moncton Hawks, Providence Reds and St. Michael’s College teams and low grade pics of the Rangers and Montreal Maroons. From the early-1950s are colorful “La Patrie” pictures on newsprint, with the Quebec Aces’ Jean Beliveau leading two dozen decent but trimmed jobs, with another Beliveau and Rocket Richard among two dozen low grade affairs. From the ‘60s are beautiful color posters, strong on Canadiens content, contained in over two dozen complete editions of the French language “Sport Images” tabloid-like publication, some with a name written on the cover, along with over two dozen similar “loose” posters, with Howe, Keon, Parent and a few others joining the Canadiens’ contingent. Trimmed “Sport Illustre” black and white posters and a few rough ’71-72 OPC posters are also to mention, as well as low grade ’70-71 Coca-Cola posters of Hull, Mahovlich, Cournoyer and Tallon. Hockey books include a decent VG copy of Ed Fitkin’s 1950 “Turk Broda of the Leafs” and three paperbacks featuring Bobby Orr on the cover. A crack-free round gold base early Montreal Expos bobbing head doll highlights some baseball/Expos goodies, with an old pocket-less “DR” brand catcher’s mitt, 15 early but low grade Expos color postcards, half a dozen Expos mini pennants, a couple of old Expos transistor radios, two different and nice 1979 pocket schedules and a big box (200+) of later Expos postcards featuring lots of duplication and starring Staub, Carter, Hunt, Galarraga, Dennis Martinez and Parrish, among the rest. Also to mention are 75+ mostly hockey and baseball pinback buttons, nine goalie masks available at McDonald’s a few years ago, three plastic baseball nodders (Yankees, Red Sox, Phillies) and last but not least, a neat New York Knicks bobbing head doll/bank standing 9” high and in good shape with crazing in the paint to mention, as well as, like the Expos doll, its original box.
