Ottawa got two kicks at the WHA in the 1970s with the Nationals and the Civics. Offered are three Nationals programs from their first and only campaign in the rebel league’s 1972-73 inaugural season, including the Vol. 1, No. 1 edition of On Ice, the Nationals’ game program for the WHA opening night game against the Alberta Oilers at the Civic Centre on Wednesday, October 11, 1972. Also included are a pair of programs from later in the season for games against the New York Raiders and the Philadelphia Blazers, all three teams that changed incarnations the following season. Also featured is a full ticket for the Ottawa Civics’ second and final home game against Gordie Howe’s Houston Aeros at the Civic Centre on January 15, 1976. The ticket is creased in the middle but full and intact with the detachable stub still in place. Also included are three 4” x 18” Nationals banner stickers with their paper backing still in place, a pair of Nationals 1972 training camp pamphlets with rosters for the team’s preseason in Hull, Quebec, and a vintage Nationals season ticket request folder. Also included in the lot are a 1972 Canada-Russia series program, a set of 22 early 1970s Montreal Canadiens color postcards, and a Montreal Forum program for the Canadiens’ March 11, 1972 game against Chicago.
