Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2012
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/30/2012
Delightful and in demand early-1960s Toronto hockey mini nodders feature one with the Maple Leafs crest and the other sporting a Red Wings winged wheel logo on the front. Each of these pint-sized bobbing head dolls stands 4 1/2" tall and both come with their original boxes. The boxes have the same “Made in Japan” shipping label affixed to the side and each has “PMS/TML, 1 PCE” typed on, meaning that some poor kid back in the day was disappointed to open his box and see that his little Maple Leafs buddy had switched allegiances and gone and represented Motown while wearing Toronto colors. Someone was asleep at the switch in Tokyo when the decals were applied! Our “Toronto” mini nodder with the Red Wings logo is really nicely preserved with no significant flaws to report and only very tiny paint chips on the base and body to note and barely worth mention. The Maple Leafs mini bobbing head doll is even cleaner. A really fantastic pair of Maple Leafs mini nodders for completists featuring both the proper example and the Red Wings error.
