Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2012
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/30/2012
The late, great Maurice “Rocket” Richard’s autograph sits low on the shaft of this really distinctive hockey stick. It is one of only a few known to have been used in the making of the TV movie, “Maurice Richard: Histoire d’un Canadien”, which was first broadcast in October 1999, shortly before the Rocket’s passing the following spring. Richard was portrayed by actor Roy Dupuis, who would revisit the same role a few years later in the feature film “The Rocket”. This fantastic movie prop is a faithful recreation of Maurice’s stick, with “CCM Professional” printed on the shaft and tape jobs on the knob and blade used in the filming remain in place. The black marker autograph displays some bleeding and Richard’s shaky penmanship bears evidence to the fact that the hockey icon’s signature dates from the final stages of his storied life.
