Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2012

For those of you who wish they could have been the architects of the great Montreal Canadiens Stanley Cup teams, here’s some consolation, the blueprints for the old Montreal Forum’s 1968 renovation and expansion. You might not be able to build the Habs but now you can get to work on your own Forum, or at least consider what was done to re-envision the Canadiens’ longtime home some 44 years ago. They literally raised the roof and removed pillars, clearing up the sightlines of untold previously-obstructed seats. Offered are three original 1968 Montreal Forum blueprints including individual floor plans for both the north and south halves of the second floor and the north half of the fourth floor. These vintage architectural plans of the “Montreal Forum” for the “Canadian Arena Company” date from February 1968. Kenneth Sedleigh is listed as the architect with David & Boulva as consulting architects and Stone & Webster as project managers. These huge blueprints measure approximately 3’ x 4’ with obvious handling. To note, the blueprint of the second floor’s south half displays yellowing as well as water damage in the bottom middle of the blueprint that has obscured some of the drawings and notations. Despite some tears and rips, these blueprints are whole and have been pretty well preserved overall. Talk about a piece of hockey history!
