Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2012
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/30/2012
From hockey history-rich Quebec City comes this intriguing ensemble, spanning some five decades. Three thick little guides (4" x 6") feature individual photos of Quebec Aces players from 1938-39, '45-46 and '47-48, with the latter autographed by six including Punch Imlach. A wondrous view of the "new" Colisee pictures Jean Beliveau's junior Citadels and the Junior Canadiens lined-up prior to a January 15, 1950 game. A '69-70 Remparts program pictures Guy Lafleur on the cover, with Guy also on the cover of a program from the 1971 Memorial Cup-winning game and in a photo with the trophy. Also included is a nifty felt and chenille Remparts crest (5” x 6”), a smaller embroidered job and a Remparts medallion with chain and matching cuff links. As for condition of previously mentioned items, the guides are in the VG neighborhood, with 20-year old Larry Zeidel also autographing his photo/page in pencil like player-coach Imlach in the ’47-48 edition. The interior shot of the Colisée measures 7-1/2” by 9-1/2”, features a few light creases and multiple light cracks but offers several minutes of intriguing viewing, with evidence of once being pasted on the reverse but no paper loss. The ’69-70 Remparts program is for a game versus the Sherbrooke Beavers and has individual photos of all players, including Lafleur, while the the picture of Guy with four teammates around the Memorial Cup is on thin cardboard stock and near mint. Thanks to the notes in pen on the lineup pages of the four-page 1971 program, we can decipher that this was from the Remparts' Memorial Cup-clinching win over the Edmonton Oil Kings, with Quebec taking the best-of-three series in consecutive games, winning the finale 5-2 in front of 11,401 fans at the Colisée.
