This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/30/2012
Legendary HOFer Bill Mosienko appears in a 1942-43 Quebec Aces team photo featured in this lot of memorabilia from the Quebec Senior Hockey League Team. Known as the "Morton Aces" at the time, the Quebec City team also featured Doug Baldwin, who has signed both the 1942-43 team photo as well as one of the 1944-45 Quebec Aces. Also included is a small 1942-43 Morton Aces team guide, including a Mosienko bio, an 8 1/2" x 5" 1944 Aces calendar with intact month pages, and a much-handled 1940s Aces game program. Baldwin played 24 NHL games with Toronto, Detroit and Chicago in the late 1940s. He has signed in ballpoint on the bottom of the original mattes of both of these 1940s Aces team photos.
Mosienko is the third player from the right in the back row of the 1942-43 Morton Aces team photo. Displayed on its original 13x17 matte with “Photo Roger Bedard” credit below the bottom right corner of this vintage 6 3/4" x 10 1/2" print. Team name, season and league are listed at the top, and the team members’ names are listed along the bottom with Baldwin’s signature below. The matte displays handling with some water stains, creasing and tears on the edges, but the team photo has been very nicely preserved.
The 1944-45 Quebec Aces team photo, also from Roger Bedard’s studio, displays a nicely preserved 7x13 print. The 12 3/4" x 17 1/2" cream matte backing displays handling, including a horizontal tear in the middle of the left side that does not reach the print, some rough edges and a water stain on the upper right edge.
Weathered and creased 9” x 6” Aces program for a game against the Port Arthur Shipbuilders is complete, including both rosters.
