Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2012

The 1940 Cup Finals were contested between the New York Rangers and the Toronto Maple Leafs, and by all accounts the Series was exciting throughout, with three of its six games decided in overtime. The Rangers won the first two games on home ice, and then due to Circus scheduling at Madison Square Garden were forced to play the remainder in Toronto. Undeterred, they won Game 5 in double overtime to take a 3-2 Series lead, then overcame a 2-0 deficit in Game 6 and saw Bryan Hextall score the Cup winner two minutes into overtime, to the dismay of the Maple Leaf Gardens crowd. This was New York's fifth Stanley Cup, but famously their last for the next 54 years. The offered program for the decisive Game 6 is complete and in beautiful Ex/Nm+ condition, with the game date - April 13, 1940 - neatly stamped on the cover.
