Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2012

One of the most dominant players in the history of Major Junior Hockey, Guy Lafleur scored an amazing 130 goals in his final season with the Qubec Remparts, 1970-71, and his future as an NHL star seemed assured. Thanks to the clever maneuvering of their General Manager Sam Pollock, the Stanley Cup champion Montreal Canadiens had secured the first pick in the 1971 Amateur Draft, and they chose the man who would win three Art Ross trophies, two Hart trophies and five Stanley Cups over the next decade, and retire as the team's all-time scoring leader. Lafleur made his NHL debut on October 9, 1971, in the Canadiens season opener vs. the New York Rangers at the Forum in Montreal; picking up his first NHL point with an assist in a 4-4 tie. Offered here is a complete, Ex/Nm program from that historic evening. Also included is a ticket stub from the night in which Lafleur scored his 500th NHL goal, becoming just the 10th player to do so. It happened in a 6-0 Canadiens win over the Devils in New Jersey on December 20, 1983, and the game was doubly historic, as Lafleur's longtime line mate Steve Shutt scored his 400th goal earlier in the game. The ticket stub is also in sharp Ex/Nm condition.
