In the long history of the NHL, no team has ever been as dominant as the Montreal Canadiens were in the late 1950's, and it's doubtful one will ever be again. From 1955-56 to 1959-60 the Canadiens won nearly 70% of their regular season games, 15 individual trophies, and an unprecedented five straight Stanley Cups. Ten players from that period were later inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame, along with their fiery coach, Toe Blake. During those years, before yearbooks were produced for the public, the Canadiens published a limited number of guides for team and League officials and the press. Produced in typed & mimeographed 8 1/2" x 11" form, they contained highly detailed player information, along with team records, history and statistics. The offered example is from the 1958-59 season, in which Montreal would win a record-setting fourth straight Cup on their way to five, and earn six of the twelve spots on the 1st and 2nd All Star teams. Dickie Moore would top the scoring race with a record 96 points, and Jacques Plante take his fourth straight Vezina Trophy. The 76 page guide is complete and in nice Ex condition, with a little light staining on the back cover.
