Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2012
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/30/2012
The inaugural issue of "Hockey Magazine", dated December 1927, features Montreal Canadiens superstar Howie Morenz on its cover and forty pages of vintage hockey photos and stories. This ultra-rare publication was the very first of its type, produced during the NHL's 10th season, and it's amazing content includes articles on rule changes, Art Ross, the brand new Madison Square Garden, the origins of the game; plus a full 1927-28 NHL schedule. This was Morenz's first great season, as he scored 33 goals in 43 games to win both the Art Ross and Hart trophies, and became the first player to record 50 points (finishing with 51). His iconic cover image shown here was also his initial appearance on a publication, making it that much more desirable. The magazine is complete and in solid Ex condition, with light overall wear. A true gem.
