Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2012

Two great teams faced off at the Ottawa Auditorium on the evening of February 28th, 1928, as the defending Stanley Cup champion Senators were visited by the Montreal Canadiens. The two clubs featured 11 future Hall of Famers between them, including King Clancy, Alex Connell and Frank Nighbor for the Senators. The Canadiens were led by goalie George Hainsworth, who would win the Vezina Trophy that season, and star center Howie Morenz, who would capture both the League scoring title and the Hart Trophy. Montreal would prevail in this encounter, winning 2-0 behind Hainsworth's shutout goaltending. The offered program from that game is in remarkable condition given its age and thin paper stock, and among the very few likely to have survived the many decades since.
