Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2012
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/30/2012
It was time to keep your head up whenever the guys wielding these sticks were on the ice. Quartet of game-used sticks belonged to enforcers Dave Semenko and Link Gaetz and bruising defensemen Jerry Korab and Darius Kasparaitis. Semenko was Wayne Gretzky’s bodyguard with the Edmonton Oilers’ 1980s dynasty but he could also put the puck in the net. In fact, Semenko scored the last goal in the history of the WHA. “Sammy” is stamped on the shaft of his signed Titan TPM2020 gamer which displays his blue marker autograph low on the shaft with a “Nov 8 1984” factory date stamp on the back of the shaft. Dave’s original tape jobs remain on the blade and knob, with his number “27” written in blue marker below the latter. “Gaetz” is stamped on the shaft of Link’s Christian 1020 game-used stick in the Minnesota North Stars’ color scheme which also retains his tape jobs on the knob and blade. Korab has signed in black marker on the shaft of his Canadien gamer which has his number “27” written in black marker below his ribbed tape job on the knob. Pattern number “6448” is written in black marker on the two sides of the shaft and on the toe of the blade, which had its tape job removed and is cracked on the bottom edge of the heel. Kasparaitis’ black Victoriaville Ultra Vic 4050 rookie-era gamer displays loads of game use. It retains his tape job on the blade and on the knob, which has “TMD +” written on it in black marker.
