This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/30/2012
Three-time Stanley Cup champion Joey Kocur’s game-worn gloves are included in this lot that features five of his game-used sticks spanning his NHL career. Joey debuted with Detroit in 1984-85 and went on to win his first Cup with the Rangers in 1994. After a brief stop in Vancouver, he was back with the Red Wings in time to contribute to Motown’s back-to-back Cup wins in 1997 and 1998. Joey has signed in fine silver paint pen on the front padding of the right glove of his Red Wings Cooper game-worn gloves. Kocur’s number “26” is written in red marker that has bled inside the cuffs of these gamers which have wear and tear holes around the thumb and index fingers of both gloves. Curiously the five sticks are of varying lengths each with distinctively different tape jobs on the knob. Joey’s Sher-Wood 9030 gamer has a date stamp that appears to be from February 1988. It has “Kocur 26” stamped on the shaft and his number “26” written in black marker. It shows loads of game use and retains his tape job on the blade and knob and a wrap of red tape around the shaft. “Kocur” is stamped on his Louisville gamer which has a date stamp with an indistinguishable year. Ribbed black tape job on the knob and black bulldog tape job on the blade are intact. “J. Kocur” is stamped on a Victoriaville gamer which has had its tape job removed from the blade but retains his white tape job on the knob with a loose strand at the bottom. “Kocur” is stamped on the shaft of his Victoriaville 6050 game-used stick with a ribbed white tape knob and white tape job on the blade. Rouding out the lot is Joey’s black Victoriaville gamer with part of the white “Kocur” factory stamp visible under the wraps of black tape around the shaft. Joey’s white grip tape knob has a loose strand at the bottom and his black tape job on the blade is intact.
