The American Hockey League’s Cleveland Barons of the 1950s were such a strong team that they made a push to be admitted to the NHL. That, of course, didn’t come about but the Barons enjoyed plenty of success in the minors including four Calder Cup wins during the decade, including the 1956-57 season. Offered is Dan Poliziani’s game-used Northland Pro stick from that season which was team-signed in blue ballpoint by 18 members of the of the Calder Cup champion Barons, including Fred Glover, who led the AHL with 42 goals and 99 points. Starting from the bottom of the shaft and moving up to Dan’s original tape job on the knob, the stick is signed by Cal Stearns, Steve Kraftcheck, Pete Goegan, Polizani, Gordon Vejprava, John McLellan, Ed MacQueen, goalie Marcel Paille, Ken Hayden, Frank Milne, Glover, Jack Gordon, Bill Shvetz, Gordie Hudson, Bo Elik, Ron Ingram, Jack Boag and Jim Moore, who led the Barons with 66 assists and finished second to Glover in points with 89. “Poliziani” is written in red marker high on the shaft and his number 16 is written three times, including on part of the front of his tape job. Dan’s original tape job on the blade and the bottom of the shaft remain and nice game use shows in black marks and red goalpost paint transfer low on the shaft.
