This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/30/2012
The Capitals made Alex Ovechkin's debut as team captain memorable. Offered are all four of the Caps' goal pucks from their 4-2 win over Montreal at the Verizon Center on January 5, 2010. A Capitals hologram sticker sits on the puck from Tomas Fleischmann's power-play tally which broke a scoreless tie 5:14 into the second. Though Ovi didn't figure on the scoresheet, his teammates picked him up by bombarding the Habs' Carey Price with a 43-shot barrage . It was an especially big night for Fleischmann, who set up a pair by Alexander Semin. Semin's two goal pucks are also included along with the puck from Eric Fehr's second-period goal. All four Capitals goal pucks have a wide band of white hockey tape wrapped across the face and attached on the reverse. The goal number from the game, the goal scorer’s name and jersey number, and the period the goal was scored in are written in black marker across the tape on the face. The tape on the reverse has the date of the game “1/5/10” written in tiny numbers.
“Goal #1, #14 Fleischmann, 2nd Period” is for Fleischmann’s unassisted PPG 5:14 into the second which put Washington up 1-0.
“Goal #2, #16 Fehr, 2nd Period” is for Fehr’s goal, assisted by Brooks Laich and Mike Green, 15:45 into the second to make it 2-1 for the Caps.
“Goal #3, #28 Semin, 2nd Period” is for Semin’s goal, assisted by Tom Poti and Fleischmann, at 16:21 of the second which made it 3-1.
“Goal #4, #28 Semin, 3rd Period” is for Semin’s second goal of the game, assisted by Fleischmann, the final goal of the game at 17:58 of the third.
