Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2012

The New York Islander's fisherman and lighthouse theme of the mid-1990s was panned on their uniforms, though it looks pretty awesome as painted on Eric Fichaud's game-worn mask! Originally obtained from Fichaud, this photo-matched beauty was worn by the rookie goalie during his 1995-96 debut season. Frank Cipra provided an inspired paint job and the artist he has signed and dated "96" inside the mask, which comes without its backplate and straps. The distinctive chip in the missing white outer layer of the bar above the left eyehole on the cage clearly shows in our photo matches of Fichaud wearing this mask, which is missing the two bottom screws attaching the grill to the mask. Obvious game wear includes more chips on the cage and on the back edge of the mask, including a few to the right of the top of the lighthouse on the left side which also displays a vertical mark/scratch.
