Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2012
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/30/2012
Practically a full set of goalie equipment in this Capitals game-used lot of Russian netminder Semyon Varlamov's tools of the trade. Included are his signed game-worn pads, along with his game-used blocker and trapper matched set, goalie skates, pants, chest protector and signed stick. "Varlamov" is embroidered in red thread on the outside edge of the knee of both of Semyon's Capitals Vaughn Velocity game-worn goalie pads. The black marker autographs placed on the inside edge of each pad bear the number 40 Varlamov wore at the outset of his NHL career in Washington. These gamers remain in fantastic shape, with really nice game wear showing in black marks throughout, and bright red bleeding from Semyon's Capitals hockey socks. Varlamov's name is also embroidered on each of his Capitals game-used blocker and trapper, each displaying loads of black marks, with both having Capitals hologram stickers applied to them. Equipment is circa 2009-10 other than Varlamov's Bauer Supreme 7000 goalie skates, which have the number 1 he wore in 2010-11 written on the bottom in black marker. Semyon’s signed Bauer Vapor X:60 game-used stick has “Varlamov” printed in factory graphics high on the shaft. Varly has placed a big black marker signature on the heel of the now-bare blade, which had his tape job removed for him to place the autograph. Semyon’s white tape knob remains in place. Game wear shows in marks, paint chips on the back of the paddle.
White Capitals practice-worn jersey has Reebok size-58+ tagging on the left front tail and size-58+ flag tag in the neck. Semyon’s rookie-era #40 is written in black marker on the fight strap, which also displays a Capitals hologram sticker. Light wear includes faint mark low on left sleeve;
“Varlamov” is embroidered in white thread above the Vaughn logo on the left breast of his game-worn chest and arm protector;
Game-worn goalie pants have Vaughn X-Large and “Varlamov” tagging inside the seat. Easton suspenders remain attached and pants display nice game wear with marks and scuffs on the front of the legs.
