Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2012
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/30/2012
There's no mistaking who these game-used skates belonged to -- the one and only Alexander the Gr8! Washington Capitals superstar Alex Ovechkin's distinctive yellow laces are on full display and the stylized logo featuring his number 8 sits front and centre on the top of the tongue of both of his CCM Crazy Light skates, as well as on the heel of both boots, which have "OVI" spelled out around them. There is a Capitals hologram sticker on the right skate's upper back, both of which display the names of Alex's older brothers. Ovechkin skate size and number "8" stickers are on the bottom of both boots, which have Tuuk Lightspeed2 blades attached. Team repair on the back of the left boot is among the solid game wear which includes scuffs and nicks to the hard plastic toes and fabric covering the sides. The names of Alex’s brothers on the back of the heel are Mischa, on the right, and on the left, Sergey, who died in a car accident when Alex was 10.
