Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2012
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/30/2012
Rookie season Alex Ovechkin's game-worn CCM helmet from his 2005-06 debut displays the Calder Trophy winner's number "8" decal on the back in the Washington Capitals' old number font. The Caps' previous logo appears on stickers on both sides of the white lid, which has cracks on either side of the front ear hole where Ovi's distinctive visor was removed. An "October 3, 2005" production date sticker sits inside the helmet beneath the interior padding, which is whole and complete. The chinstrap remains in place and a Capitals hologram sticker was placed on the back of the helmet, which has a modern NHL crest decal. Displays well with game wear showing in various marks and scratches on the plastic shell. A great piece that recalls that Ovi beat out Sid the Kid for top rookie honours!
