Black marks and distinctive red paint transfer patterns on the "0" on the right sleeve of Ron Francis' signed 1985-86 Hartford Whalers captain's jersey offer a solid photo match. Ronnie Franchise is wearing this vibrant green mesh Whalers No. 10 jersey with the captain's C on the left breast in an action shot against the Bruins at Boston Garden. Size "50" is written in ballpoint on the CCM flag tag with his number "10" written in black marker. An "85 07" born-on tag also remains in the back of the neck. Ron has signed in black marker on the top of the Whalers crest sewn-on the front and on the "0" on the back. Custom-shortened sleeves on this photo-matched beauty with loads of game wear, which is detailed below. Twine repair to green portion of collar and twine closure to the front collar seam do not appear to have been done by the Whalers’ equipment staff.
Three black marks on the bottom left of the Whalers crest show in the proper location on another action shot of Francis from the same game in Boston late in the 1985-86 season.
Two team repairs on the left shoulder, unrepaired board burn holes on the back of the left sleeve which also has red and blue paint transfer; black marks and paint transfer on the numbers;
Back of right sleeve has unrepaired board burn holes, red paint transfer, black marks, red paint transfer in both sleeve numbers;
Board burn with blue paint transfer on the rear left shoulder seam;
Red paint transfer and black marks on the rear tail;
Black marks and blue paint transfer on the front tail;
Two brownish stains on the left side of the captain’s C;
