Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2012
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/30/2012
Hockey cards from the late 1970s and early ’80s and some unopened material from the late ’80s and early ‘90s are most notable in this hoard. One Wayne Gretzky O–Pee-Chee rookie appears decent at first glance but has blue marker added to cover up worn corners, while the other is creased and VG. Cards from ’78-79 to the early ‘80s include a VG Mike Bossy RC, a Ray Bourque RC at EX+ and multiple Edmonton Oiler cards from ’81-82, including four Paul Coffey RCs (best are two at EX), two Gretzkys (EX-MT OC and VG), a NM Jari Kurri RC, a similar Andy Moog RC and duplicates of Anderson and Ciccarelli RCs. A few hundred loose cards of those years look handled, with 20-or-so Gretzky leaders/record breaker cards to note and possibly a few pleasant surprises to be discovered. An OPC Yzerman RC is VG, while three NM Brett Hull Topps rookies are noteworthy. Baseball cards include 1989 (Griffey RC) and ’90 Upper Deck (opened) factory sets, an unopened one from ’91, a ’98 Topps unopened factory set, an unopened box of ’92 Upper Deck baseball cards, a few miscellaneous traded/update sets and loads of loose Upper Deck, Fleer Ultra and Score cards from the early-90s. Unopened hockey material from the same era includes one box of ’91-92 Topps, and one each of ’92-93 Upper Deck low and high series cards. There are three boxes of Pro Set II from ’90-91 and one from ’90-91 Series I Score Canadian, along with three ’90-91 Score factory sets (Lindros) and two 91-92 Upper Deck High Number factory sets. Plenty of loose and in binders hockey cards to sift through as well, with also a bit of basketball and four unopened boxes of ’91 Upper Deck football. Definitely some fun to be had with this varied lot.
