Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2012
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/30/2012
The key card in Imperial Tobacco’s C61 lacrosse card set features legendary hockey player Newsy Lalonde, with the two-sport star once reflecting on his pro career, saying that as he became more experienced he really started to enjoy professional hockey. Lalonde was once quoted as saying that he got less and less nervous and that “the money was good and I was able to make extra cash playing professional lacrosse. I played for Vancouver and got $6000 for 12 games.” Newsy is indeed listed with Vancouver on card #21 here which is stained both front and back but otherwise VG with a couple of light creases. Also included is a VG example of #8-A. Kenna of Montreal, with a light horizontal crease from side to side just above his name and attaining the bottom part of the winged-wheel logo.
