Off-condition beauties thanks to that masterful artwork is the way we see these 1953 Topps cards, led by legends Mickey Mantle and Willie Mays. The key Mantle is affected by multiple creases, including two side-to-side lighter jobs through the Yankees cap and a vertical one rising up through the "E" of Mickey, to go along with edge/corner wear, rendering card #82 in the F-G range. The Mays is better with no creases, but pen marks on the right edge and three visible in the right border lower the otherwise VG-EX (OC) example. Card #1 of Jackie Robinson is P with heavy wear and "CK" in pen on the front. Most of the rest feature creases and intermittent back damage and are lower than VG, with Mathews and Feller the best of the stars at G-VG. Exceptions at VG-EX or EX are #s 16, 20, 30, 55, 57, 75, 148 and 157, while high numbers include 224 at VG, 227, 230, 235, 260, 277 (F-G) and 270 (P).
