Oh, to own a beauty crease-free '52 Topps Mantle! What hobbyist hasn't had that thought/dream(!) cross their mind over the years, surely rekindled with the sight here of a young Mickey who appears on famous card #311 of Topps' coveted 1952 issue. Examined and encapsulated by KSA and deemed worthy of lofty NM+ 7.5 recognition, this example's close to perfect centering is one of the attributes that strikes the beholder. The naked eye can spot but two touched corners (upper left, lower right). This is the version where the "e" (in Mantle) in Mickey's facsimile autograph does not curl up towards the printed name. Text on the reverse mentions how "Switch-hitting Mickey is heralded as Joe DiMaggio's successor" and lists the Mick's rookie season numbers of 1951 which included 13 homers, 65 RBI and a .267 batting average. Card back also informs the uninformed that Mickey broke into pro ball as a shortstop at age 17. Oh, what a career he had, amazingly smashing the ball great distances from either side of the plate. The nicest '52 Topps Mantle we've had the pleasure of handling, this coveted treasure awaits its new, soon to be, proud owner.
