Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2012

A mighty swell instant collection of nifty collectibles is this intriguing array of goodies, with a complete strip of '62-63 El Producto coasters, a set of 42 Toronto Star pictures from '63-64, an empty '63-64 York Peanut Butter card album and a complete set of '65-66 Coca-Cola cards in intact panels among the highlights. There are (21) Post marbles from '68-69, while O-Pee-Chee and Topps insert sets or near sets include 4-in-1 booklets from '69-70, '70-71 Deckle Edge, '71-72 Booklets, '72-73 Player Crests , '72-73 Team Canada and '73-74 Team Logos. Please read below for condition and more details of this dandy booty. The El Producto coasters feature Beliveau and Howe each with a crease and then near mint jobs of Keon, Hall, Richard and Mahovlich. The Toronto Star photos on paper stock feature wonderful color photography by Harold Barkley and with the exception of Beliveau are free of any unsightly creases and are in the EX neighborhood, with a tattered original mailing envelope also present. The York album exhibits evidence of an elastic band once having been around its middle, is creased in the lower right corner but otherwise is real clean with no cards ever having been pasted-in. The six team sets of Coke cards are in their original un-perforated form with light wear to the top goalie cards, subtle edge toning and special order form cards still present at the back of each – nice. The Post marbles show light handling/wear with no “dogs” present and Richard, Vachon, Ferguson and JC Tremblay required to complete the Canadiens portion and Horton, Pilote, Pronovost, Ellis and Carleton the Leafs set. A Montreal 4-in-1 booklet is all that is missing to complete that ensemble, with a single mini card pasted in the Seals and North Stars pieces, with all but Boston appearing EX-ish. A mix of conditions to report with the 48 Deckle Edge cards, with a crease or two spotted in the majority and pen marks on the back of the multi-creased (G) Orr. High grade is the way we see the ’71-72 (Topps) Booklets, with Orr, Howe, Hull and 21 others NM. The ‘72-73 Player Crests are generally problem-free and quite nice, with #11-Laperriere needed for completion. A set of 28 Team Canada inserts is in nice collectible EX condition overall, with however a Redmond upgrade required. Team logo inserts from ‘73-74 are missing the Islanders and Flames and exhibit light edge/corner wear. The black and white Habs postcards grade from VG to EX, while the little bit smaller red-bordered cards, (19 + header), featuring the Canadian national junior team of 1983 and Lemieux and Yzerman are in beauty NM-or-better condition. Finally, cardboard cut-outs featuring Pelkowski caricatures of Hull, The Big M, Espo and Ellis are fun and seldom-seen throw-ins!
