Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2012

Less plentiful than their O-Pee-Chee counterparts from the same decade are the two dozen cards which comprise the company's 1935-36 effort, with this ensemble seen as a rather attractive, technically low grade group. Otherwise mostly VG cards are lowered by dime-size-or-larger glue stains on the backs of 20. The exceptions are #s 82-Sylvio Mantha (VG+), 76-Hooley Smith (G), 80-Gottselig (VG) and the last card, 96-Goldsworthy RC (G). All text is still legible on the backs of the rest, with rookie card notables including 73-Wilf Cude, 79-Lynn Patrick, 81-Marty Barry and 93-Art Coulter. Fifteen of the 24 are considered RCs, with the original owner apparently having a fondness for green and orange backgrounds, with no purple or yellow backgrounds present. A prerequisite to an important pre-war card collection, this group is an appealing alternative to a high-grade set.
