Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2012
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/30/2012
Elusive cards here are on the wantlists of numerous avid pre-war collectors and feature players who skated in western Canada. A dozen Hockey Hall-of-Famers make their first cardboard appearance, with however all cards considered low grade, having been professionally removed from an album, only to reveal a turquoise "B.F." stamp on the backs, along with "Date......" Majority of cards also feature rounded corners and varying degrees and amounts of creasing, with however a handful (#s 4, 10, 14, 32 and 51) displaying like VG examples. Nicest of the big names are legends Newsy Lalonde and George Hainsworth, with other notables being Bill Cook, Dick Irvin, Herb Gardiner, Red Dutton, Bullet Joe Simpson, Barney Stanley, George Hay, Duke Keats, Harry Oliver, Rusty Crawford and Lorne Chabot. Scarcity will overrule condition here and will please the astute new owner! Missing to complete the set is #55-Clucker White, while it should be noted that 44-Ty Arbour is missing an upper right corner. One card, 17-Wilf L`Heureux, does not feature the aforementioned stamping on the back. One final note, approximately half feature paper loss on the back, but in most cases, it is subtle and minor, with most text still legible.
