Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2012
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/30/2012
A wonderful trip back in time – 40 years back(!) – is offered with these original wax wrappers from the 1972-73 hockey season. Featuring an image of Tony Esposito on each, the wrappers recall how an “All-Star Push-Out Card” (player crest) accompanied eight cards and a stick of gum in first series packs, a “Special Canadian All-Star Card” (Team Canada insert) was in 2nd series packs and how a “Special Stick On Crest” (team logo) came in 3rd series packs, which featured those weird, wild first WHA cards. The first series wrapper here has a couple of tiny tears and multiple peripheral creases to mention, with one tiny edge tear in the 2nd series wrapper and none spotted in the 3rd series wrapper. The latter two mostly only have the usual fold lines and help to make for a swell complete ensemble from good old ’72-73 O-Pee-Chee.
