Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2012
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/30/2012
Nifty array of goodies from the early 1970s here include a couple of items that were available through a promotion at Mac’s Milk convenience stores and feature the artwork of Bob Pelkowksi. Scarcest is the towel, (approximately 22” by 37” ), with a caricature of Frank Mahovlich in his Canadiens uniform. It shows some use and wear but these towels rarely surface. Meanwhile, a 27” Yvan Cournoyer pennant also features a facsimile autograph and has a January, 1974 date added in red ink, along with “Mtl – Phi 2-1”. A pinhole at the tip and another in the middle of the red piping are to mention, as well as a couple of light bends, but a dandy display piece. Two cardboard cut-outs (approx 4-1/2” by 9”) may have been parts of cereal boxes and from a Kellogg`s promotion from the previous season (1970-71) when iron-on transfers were offered as a mail-in premium, with Hull, Esposito, Mikita, Gilbert, Ellis and Mahovlich (in a Detroit uniform) comprising the set of six. Fun 40-year old collectibles!
