Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2012

Two highly sought images by Bobby Orr aficionados highlight this fabulous lot, with Boston`s fabulous “4” staying close to Jean Beliveau in one poster here and having escaped all pursuers and having “overwhelmed,” like the caption mentions, Rogie Vachon in another. Only occasionally does a Neilson poster show up, but to have a chance at a complete set of five is almost unheard of. Photos were snapped during the 1967-68 Stanley Cup playoffs when the Canadiens swept the Bruins in four straight quarter-final games, (it`s okay, they`d be back, eh Boston fans?!), took out Chicago in five and swept Glenn Hall and the Blues in the Cup finals. The size of these (24-1/2 x 38) contributed to not many surviving in great shape, with these however remarkably in nice collectible condition with no tack holes or tape repair – sweet! We spot but one less-than-an-inch edge tear in the Orr-Beliveau poster (just below the caption in the lower left corner), with no real unsightly creases throughout, just some not-really-detracting light bends here and there. The Duff-Lemaire-Hull poster has some rough edges to mention but overall, these are not far from being about as nice as one should hope for. A young Bobby, a mask-less Glenn and Cheevers` original mask – these offer some luscious eye candy!
