Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2012
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/30/2012
One of the hobby's most coveted and in-demand cards is the one featuring the first cardboard appearance of then boy wonder Bobby Orr, the major component responsible for the Boston Bruins turning their fortunes in the late-1960s. It was earlier in the decade when Orr was spotted as a 12-year old playing hockey for his hometown Parry Sound, Ontario team. A few years later, after a stellar junior career with the Oshawa Generals, Bobby arrived on the NHL scene and proceeded to live up to all the advance star billing. This example of card #35 from Topps' 1966-67 set has been encapsulated by KSA which gave the treasure a grade of NMM 8. The naked eye can spot a white spec on the upper left corner, while the KSA label on the back reads "CARD 1/8 IN SHORT T/B - NO APPARENT TRIMMING." Bright colors, smooth edges and original gloss are striking.
