One of the most coveted rookie cards of the post-war era, that of Parry Sound/Boston boy wonder Bobby Orr, is offered here, with card #35 from Topps' condition-sensitive 1966-67 set sitting in an SGC holder and having been deemed worthy of EX/NM 6 status. With not perfect but relatively good centering, the card exhibits a white spec at three of the four corners, with the most visible at the upper left. The accompanying cards, for the most part, mirror the Orr RC, with numerous big names EX-MT in our eyes and possibly a few a tad better. Included in this group are Esposito, Howe, Hull, checklist #66, Richard, Shack (ST), Gilbert, Sinden RC, Bucyk, Cournoyer, Horton, Geoffrion, P. Mahovlich RC, Red Wings team, Mikita AS and Hull AS, while at NM or again, possibly a touch higher, are Imlach, Bower, Francis, Beliveau, checklist #120 (OC) and Howe AS (OC). At EX+ are Hall, Sawchuk (ST) and #64-Hull scoring champ. The vast majority of the rest are either EX, EX+ or EX-MT, with most falling into the two latter grades. All totaled, there are some two dozen with removable wax stains on the fronts, which generally feature lovely original gloss. There are exceptions; #s 1-Blake, 16-Stanley, 19-Pulford, 23-Giacomin, 62-Mikita, 97-McKenzie and 126-Hall AS are all no better than VG+ because of a light crease. The last card, 132-Rousseau AS is VG-EX, with 117-Wharram a G-VG filler. Averaging a conservative EX+ overall, this attractive ensemble is sure to garner interest.
