Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2012

Dozens and dozens have tried over the years, but just four owners of Gump Worsley rookie cards have received a mark superior to NM-MT 8 from the PSA company. The NHL's rookie-of-the-year in 1952-53 when he was summoned to New York from Saskatoon of the PCHL to replace the injured Chuck Rayner, the Gumper sure looks good here in NM-MT 8 form, with two dozen others out of over 150 total submissions to PSA having garnered NM-MT 8 recognition. Ironically, Worsley found himself back in the minors the year this card was pulled from a Parkhurst pack as Johnny Bower won the Rangers' starting job, but returned the following year and would go on to win 335 big league games. Superb card is destined for big-time slabbed portfolio.
