A perennial award-winning, years-in-the-making, Hall of Fame-caliber ensemble of encapsulated treasures is offered here, with this, the current and All-Time Finest 1923-24 Paulin's Candy card set on the PSA Set registry. The images of the pictured players - men who performed in the Western Canadian Hockey League and several of whom went on to star in the NHL and earn a spot in the Hockey Hall of Fame - are riveting, with their combined PSA numbers staggering. With a GPA of 4.82, the fascinating group includes 37 which are recognized as the "highest graded", with 26 of those being 1-of-1 examples! A dozen Hall-of-Famers make their first cardboard appearance, with George Hainsworth, Red Dutton, Bullet Joe Simpson, Barney Stanley, Rusty Crawford and George Hay alone in first place as their respective highest graded examples! Lorne Chabot is also Pop 1 chart-topper, while Newsy Lalonde is joined by one other EX-MT 6 atop his "section". Just ten cards are of the "stamp redemption" variety, which nevertheless carry full weight on registry sets, unlike cards with qualifiers. Leading the way condition-wise is HOFer George Hay's #28 card at NM-MT 8 (OC), with stamp redemption, followed by a trio of NM 7s; 24-McCusker (stamp), 34-Elmer and 42-Trapp, with 13-Dalman at NM 7 (OC). A single EX-MT+ 6.5 (46-Hal Winkler - stamp) is ahead of nine EX-MT 6 cards including Chabot, Dutton, Lalonde and Hainsworth (stamp), as well as 4-Gillis, 52-Scott (stamp), 47-Sheppard, 49-Sparrow and 51-Tuckwell. Three EX+ 5.5 examples, 2-Speiers, 3-Hughes and 68-Reid, edge out the most dominant group, EX 5, represented by 23 cards, the most notable being 19-Bill Brydge, 22-Dick Irvin ("Irwin"), 30-Stanley, 35-Bill Cook (stamp), 41-Simpson, 45-Duke Keats and 70-Crawford, with the others being #s 8, 10, 11, 17, 18, 21, 23, 32, 37, 44, 50, 53, 55, 64, 66 and 67. EX 5 cards with (MC) qualifiers are 48 and 57, while 63-Herb Gardiner (stamp) highlights eight cards at VG-EX+ 4.5, the others being 7, 9, 12, 29, 54, 56 and 65. Ten at VG-EX 4 include 69-Harry Oliver, along with 6, 14, 16, 25 (stamp), 26-Dutkowski, 31, 40, 58 and 60. Just eight cards do not make it to VG-EX, with 5 and 43 and VG+ 3.5 and 1-Borland, 36, 59 (stamp) and 61 (stamp) at VG 3. Completing are 27-McVeigh at FR 1.5 and two PR 1 cards; 20 and 33. For astute longtime collectors or newcomers looking to make an extraordinary splash in the hobby, this jackpot offers a wondrous opportunity. Please call if more specifics are required.
