The late, great Valery Kharlamov won his first Olympic gold medal in 1972 in Sapporo, Japan. Offered is Valery's XI Olympic Winter Games commemorative medal. This spectacular gold-coloured beauty measures a shade over 2 1/2" in diameter and features a smooth edge. The raised image of a ski jumper and the Olympic flame are displayed over "Sapporo '72" on the face. The Sapporo '72 logo sits in the middle of the reverse with Japanese characters above it, all encircled by "XI Olympic Winter Games Sapporo Japan 1972" in raised letters. Wonderfully preserved with only slight surface marks, this historic Olympic commemorative medal comes with its original solid white and clear plastic case. Comes with an LOA from the Kharlamov family.
