This stellar international hockey award is in outstanding condition. It is a personal miniature replica that prompts us to recall how Canada reclaimed Canada Cup tournament bragging rights in 1984 after having been embarrassed 8-1 by the Soviet Union in the 1981 finals. Canada had to actually take out the Russians in the semi-finals in 1984, edging them 3-2 when Mike Bossy deflected a Paul Coffey shot at 12:29 of overtime to set up a best-of-three final with Sweden. The red and white came through with 5-2 and 6-5 victories, with Wayne Gretzky finishing atop the tourney scoring list and the tireless, determined play of John Tonelli deservedly earning him tournament MVP honours. This trophy, originally part of the Alan Eagleson collection, stands just under 12" high and has "Coupe Canada Cup" engraved on a small plaque applied to the base, while the original green felt is still on the bottom. These types of trophies are often cracked and/or bulging, but this one has survived in sensational near mint condition.
