Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux have signed in bold blue marker on their respective conference’s team-signed souvenir sticks from the 1989 NHL All-Star Game in Edmonton. A total of 21 members of the Campbell Conference squad signed the oversized blade of one of these Sher-Wood specialties, including Gretzky, who has signed at the very bottom of the shaft, along with fellow HOFers Hull, Kurri, Mullen, Robitaille, Yzerman, Ciccarelli and the likes of Lowe and Vernon, among others. Lemieux, who has signed right at the bottom of the heel, is among 26 members of the Prince of Wales All-Stars who placed blue marker autographs on the blade of the stick including fellow HOFers Robinson, Coffey, Neely, Bourque, Stevens and all-star captain Norm Ullman as well as Ridley, Brian Mullen, Wesley, McPhee and Brown. The Wales team-signed stick has a chip in the middle of the top edge of the blade, which is about 28” long and 4 1/2" high. Great souvenirs from Wayne’s triumphant all-star return to Edmonton!
