Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2012

The reigning Stanley Cup champion Montreal Canadiens made it to the conference finals for a second year in a row in the spring of 1987. An earlier and vintage Wayne Gretzky Titan 2020 game-issued stick is signed by Patrick Roy, Mats Naslund, Larry Robinson, Bob Gainey, Chris Chelios, Guy Carboneau, Claude Lemieux and other members of the 1986-87 Habs, who would have faced Gretzky’s Edmonton Oilers in the 1987 Stanley Cup final if not for their loss to Philadelphia in the Eastern Conference final. This Gretzky game-issued stick, which dates from earlier than 1986-87, has “W. Gretzky” stamped on the shaft and a partially erased “XWG” written in pencil on the back of the bottom of the shaft just above the heel. A total of 23 gorgeous blue marker autographs are lined up along the front of the shaft, including the likes of HOFers Jacques Lemaire (team exec) and Jacques Laperriere (assistant coach) as well as Bobby Smith, Rick Green, Petr Svoboda, Ryan Walter, Sergio Momesso, Mike McPhee, Mike Lalor, Craig Ludwig, David Maley, Brian Skrudland, Gilles Thibaudeau, Gaston Gingras, coach Jean Perron and the late John Kordic. Comes with a Classic Auctions LOA.
