The Stanley Cup was back in Montreal in 1935, though hockey's holy grail was claimed by the Maroons, not the Canadiens. Amazing souvenir of English Montreal's ill-fated team is HOFer Hooley Smith's game-used stick autographed by members of the 1934-35 Stanley Cup champion Maroons! There are a total of 24 autographs on this vintage and historic team-signed gamer, which retains Smith's tape job on the knob. It is slightly loose as is the broken band of tape on the heel of the blade, which displays the outline of tape removed from the toe which is consistent with period photos that show Hooley taped his stick in this manner. Coach and GM Tommy Gorman and fellow deceased HOFers Smith, Alex Connell, Toe Blake and Lionel Conacher have all signed along with the likes of Wentworth, Gainor, Ward, Trottier, Robinson and Blinco, to name a few. "7" is written in pencil below the knob on all four sides of the shaft, which has a varnish coating applied over the pencil autographs. "Stanley Cup Winners (3 straight games) 1934-35" is written below the band of black tape low on the shaft along with the scores of the three finals games between the Maroons and Maple Leafs. Maroons radio commentator Elmer Ferguson has signed low on the shaft and Ward has signed on both sides of the shaft.
There are two small nail holes on the bottom side of the shaft, one just below the tape knob and one below the tape wrap low on the shaft;
A custom-made display case is included but shipping costs will be higher! Featuring an 8x10 photo of the Maroons’ starting six and colorized pictures of Smith, Ward and Blinco matted as frames and displayed on the wood grain-look backing it stands 74” tall and is a shade under 12” wide. The case is about three inches deep with its clear plastic cover, which is missing a piece that has cracked off along the top left back edge.
