Game-worn Oilers helmets were used by Jason Smith, Raffi Torres, Ales Hemsky and Ladislav Smid for special games during the second half of the 2006-07 season. Smith, Torres and Hemsky each wore their helmets for the first time during the Mark Messier Night game in Edmonton on February 27, 2007. Smith and Torres also wore their helmets for two more retro games on March 3 and 17, while Hemsky wore his again on March 17. Smid wore his for the two March retro games. Light marks on all four game-worn helmets with more details below. Each helmet comes with its respective Oilers/MeiGray LOA signed by Kevin Lowe and MeiGray certificate of registration. Smith’s Nike/Bauer helmet has Oilers retro logo crest decals on both sides. Jason’s orange number “21” decals sit high on the back of the helmet which has its original chinstrap and an NHL shield decal on the bottom right of the back;
Torres’ Mission helmet has Oilers retro logo crest decals on both sides. The numbers of his orange “14” decal on the back are torn and the “1” is missing a piece with the bottom portion reaffixed at an angle. “14” is written in black marker on the gray inner padding in the back of the helmet and the helmet’s chinstrap is included;
Hesmsky’s Nike/Bauer helmet has his Itech visor attached and Oilers retro logo crest decals on both sides. Ales’ orange number “83” decals sit on the back of the helmet, which has its original chinstrap and an NHL shield decal on the bottom right of the back. His number “83” is written in black marker on the foam padding inside the back of the helmet and the factory sticker remains inside the top of the helmet;
Smid’s Nike/Bauer helmet has an Oilers retro logo crest decal on the left side and none on the right side. Ladislav’s orange number “5” decal sits high on the back of the helmet, which has Nike/Bauer factory stickers on the inside padding and its original chinstrap.
