Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2012

Cool story behind this awesome Wayne Gretzky early-1990s L.A. Kings game-used stick with a massive black marker autograph from the Great One on the now-bare blade. According to the letter of provenance that accompanies this Easton aluminum two-piece gamer, Wayne gifted it to fellow HOF centre Doug Gilmour. It was displayed in Killer's restaurant in Kingston, Ont., and subsequently acquired after it closed when some items were sold by Doug's brother. Kings trainer Peter Millar coded the butt end "A.E. 48" in black marker within Gretz's distinctive black foam gripper on the knob. "Gretzky" is factory-printed high on the shaft, and it is also stamped on the wood blade insert that had its tape job removed. Nice game wear includes black marks and red goal post paint transfer above the heel.
