The sports world lost one of its greatest talents when LeRoy Neiman passed away in June, 2012 at the age of 90. This incredible (and huge!) limited-edition framed serigraph signed by the late, great artist is one of Neiman's earliest works on hockey. It depicts the Boston Bruins and Philadelphia Flyers, who met in the 1974 Stanley Cup final, in the heat of battle at the NHL summit. Bobby Orr and Phil Esposito's Big, Bad Bruins had two Cups to their credit when they faced off against the upstart Flyers. Led by the skill of Bobby Clarke, Rick MacLeish and Bernie Parent and fuelled by the brawn of their enforcers, Philadelphia's Broad Street Bullies won a thrilling six-game series to become the first expansion team of the modern era to hoist the Cup. LeRoy has placed a big, bold pencil signature on the bare lower right corner of this vibrant and colorful depiction of the two teams' greatest stars in action around the Flyers' net. The limited edition notation "183/300" is handwritten in pencil on the left side of the margin. Words cannot do justice to the strength of the colors of the Flyers' orange, Bruins' gold, and the various blues of the ice. The serigraph's image area measures 24 1/2" x 37" and it is displayed in a white and blue double matte. Superb artwork is beautifully preserved and mounted in a huge 36 1/2" x 47 1/2" frame.
