Fantastic find here includes the autographs of the men who brought Toronto, in the spring of 1948, its second of three consecutive Stanley Cup titles, along with several highlights to accompany this intriguing provenance. Our consignor's grandparents rented rooms to Maple Leaf players in the 1940s and ?50s and was given this autograph book by his grandmother when he was 10. Big, bold pencil signatures of Turk Broda and Bill Ezinicki are on single-signed pages and followed by one featuring 16 fountain pen jobs, commencing with coach Happy Day and concluding with captain Syl Apps, in his final NHL season. Two Ted Kennedy autographs sandwich those of legends Bill Barilko, Max Bentley and Howie Meeker towards the bottom, while higher up are Thompson, Watson, Mortson, Boesch, N. Metz, Stanowski and Klukay, with Sid Smith and Ezinicki to the right. The pen used flowed ink at times, most notable with the Day and Barilko sigs. A half dozen 4" by 6" pages were removed at some point. The thought of the 1947-48 Leafs all handling and signing it is exciting!
